Itinerary

We invite you to discover the secrets of the Asturian capital in an exciting itinerary through its most outstanding jewels, guided by illustrious characters who will act as our guides through the city. We will follow the steps of the first pilgrims on our peculiar route. Shall we start?

We will be welcomed by Alfonso II of Asturias himself,  nicknamed as “El casto”. Did you know that during his reign the tomb of the apostle Santiago was discovered in Compostela? Indeed, he was the first pilgrim and decided to establish his court in Oviedo.

We owe many of our treasures and symbols of the Asturian identity to Alfonso II, such as the Church of San Tirso. In it we will  stop to appreciate the pre-Romanesque window that has become the tourist emblem of Asturias, do you want to know why? join us to discover it!

Our pilgrimage is going to start at the Cathedral San Salvador. Not everyone knows that  the most important asturian relics are preserved there:  the Victory and The Angels crosses, symbols of our region..

A few steps away we will come across the Balesquida Chapel, headquarters of the Brotherhood of alfaytes, or more commonly known as tailors. We will tell you the secrets of the Monastery of San Pelayo and we will have time to visit the Archaeological Museum from the Plaza Feijoo. Do you want to meet this character? He is the father of the Spanish illustration!

Apart from showing you such outstanding monuments, we will also show you the most emblematic streets and squares of Oviedo. You will end up feeling more Asturian than anyone else, walking through the Plaza de San Isidoro, Mon Street, La Escandalera or the square of thousand names, the Plaza del Paraguas, Plaza del Fontán and San Francisco Park.

Folklore, modernity, history, legends, gastronomy, heritage, art, culture… In our free tour you will discover the Asturian essence in all its aspects!
