Brief description of the tour

In 2018 Bilbao was declared “Best European City”. Do you want to know why? A tour designed for you to discover and enjoy the ESSENTIALS that makes Bilbao such a special city and worthy to hold this title.

In which language do you want to do the Tour?

What are we going to see?

Itinerary

To start this journey, we will meet at the main door of the Concordia Station (Estación de la Concordia)

We will walk around the museum to see the works of art surrounding it. Then, we will jump over the estuary, to discover how Bilbao  has changed  over the years and continues to transform to this day. From there, we will enjoy a fascinating panoramic view of this contemporary city with examples such as: the Salve Bridge, the Zubi-Zuri Bridge or the Iberdrola Tower.

Essentials means… to follow the art trail that traces its itinerary from the Guggenheim and leads us to the Museum of Fine Arts. This interesting building, located next to a large garden, houses one of the most important and complete art collections that we have in Spain.

We will discover buildings such as the Alhóndiga (Azkuna Center), epicenter of the cultural life of the inhabitants of Bilbao, Plaza Moyúa, heart of the Gran Vía street, or the Diputación Foral, Campos Elíseos Theatre, among others.

We will enter the commercial and financial center of the city: El Ensanche, also known as the “Golden Mile”; here are located the most exclusive stores, luxury apartments, financial headquarters and business offices.

Diego López de Haro, founder of the town,  will appear on our journey to explain how its industrial past linked to iron, blossomed into a unique model of innovative city, without missing the special touch of the vasc personality.

We will enter the Abando Station and we will be amazed by its spectacular and colorful stained glass windows, but also with its beautiful modernist façade.

We will finish the experience looking out again to the estuary over which we jumped at the beginning, now captivated by the essence of the “Bilbao effect”.
