Here are some tips to help you prepare for your visit and make sure you don’t miss any details:

🛴 As you know, Madrid is a big city, and although many of its attractions are clustered in the centre and it is very pleasant to stroll through certain streets and neighbourhoods, the distances can be considerable, so for medium and long journeys, it is advisable to take a walk in the centre of the city. we recommend travelling by metroThe 12 lines and its connections make it a very practical option. Many networks of electric vehicles, scooters and easily accessible bicycles have also proliferated in recent years, which are quick and convenient to use and provide alternative means of sustainable mobility.

🏛️Although from time to time it is preferable to let yourself go and reserve moments for improvisation, we also think it is important to plan your visit, especially if you want to save time… and money. Check the opening hours of the museums you wish to visit and pay close attention because most of them have a time slot with free admission, sometimes in the afternoon at the end of the day and especially on weekends and public holidays.

🍸If you have some free time during your visit to the city, we recommend that you take a different perspective and discover Madrid from above. There are countless restaurants, bars, penthouses and rooftops on the rooftops of buildings, away from the traffic and everyday noise, from which you can enjoy magnificent views of Madrid and incredible sunsets.

🥣The gastronomic offer of the capital is enormous and varied, and you can taste from the most typical dishes of the region and the country to international cuisine from almost any part of the world. There are also exquisite restaurants of the highest level, but if what you want is tapas or to eat in authentic places at a reasonable price, we recommend that you go to some of the less touristy but lively squares, such as Tirso de Molina (near Lavapiés), Santa Ana (Barrio de las Letras), or San Andrés (in the area of La Latina).

🧺If you’re in Madrid on a Sunday or public holiday, you must visit El Rastro, Spain’s most emblematic street market, one of the oldest in the city and, without a doubt, the most traditional. The street stalls are full of curiosities, antiques and goods of all kinds, so it can be a good place to shop.

🛍️ If you intend to go shopping, Madrid is a good place to find what you are looking for, because as a large metropolis, it has everything. For shopping of national and international brands, we recommend you to walk along Gran Vía and Calle Fuencarral. On the other hand, if you prefer more authentic and alternative products, we recommend you go to the neighbourhoods of Chueca or Malasaña, where you will find shops and businesses with a distinct personality of their own.

💃🏻Madrid is the city with the highest quality flamenco in the country and the place chosen by the best artists for their most important performances. So, if you are a lover of this visceral and unique genre, here is a good opportunity to enjoy it.

🕺🏻 A fundamental aspect of getting to know Madrid is discovered when the sun goes down and the city does not sleep. Its lively nightlife scene has been legendary since the famous Movida Madrileña of the 80s of the last century, but many people (especially foreigners) are still surprised by the number of clubs and discos you can find open any day of the week and at almost any time of the day. Go ahead and experience the night, but keep in mind that from 12 or 1 am onwards is when you’ll find the most interesting.
